Job Description

The Remote Rig Kitchen Helper/Housekeeper position is responsible for maintaining sanitation standards, performing cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a remote camp setting. This role ensures the cleanliness and orderliness of remote camp and industrial facilities, including living areas, offices, and service areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks and coordinate activities within food service areas.
• Prepare and cook vegetables, entrees, sauces, meats, and coffee.
• Maintain product levels in preparation, serving, and storage areas.
• Stock food service areas with supplies.
• Clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment; organize storage areas.
• Wash objects using appropriate methods.
• Clean floors, surfaces, and general areas including dining, kitchen, storage, hallways, and restrooms.
• Perform floor care such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and buffing.
• Dust high and low areas.
• Use suitable cleaning equipment and solutions.
• Assist with light facility maintenance and scheduled cleaning projects.
• Remove garbage from designated areas.
• Set up and clean tables, serving lines, and display cases.
• Occasionally prepare food or cook items.
• Report safety or sanitation issues to supervisors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen or vocational training in cleaning and food prep.
• Experience in commercial housekeeping.
• Obtain an Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification upon hire.
• Pass pre-employment requirements including drug tests, physical, and hearing assessments.
• Ability to work as part of a team and make decisions independently.
• Ability to stand for 12 hours per shift.
• Ability to live in dormitory-style accommodations and meet cleanliness standards.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.

Note: Candidates outside Anchorage are responsible for travel expenses for pre-employment testing and training. Flights to remote locations are also at the employee's expense.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor and outdoor, often in arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to loud.

Environment: Industrial kitchen in a remote camp.

Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical activities. Must pass a fitness for duty test, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and other physical tasks as specified.
