Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a warm Sous Chef for Priory Court Care Home in Stamford. You will support the Head Chef and lead a culinary team to deliver nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals within budget, ensuring every resident enjoys a delicious, safe dining experience.

We value compassion, reliability and flexibility. The role requires a catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent) and at least 1 year of catering experience; a DBS check is provided by Avery

• Minimum of 1 year catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary services to residents.
• Be adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Support head chef in leading a culinary team to provide nutritionally balanced, high-quality service within budget.
• Prepare modified diets in line with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervise and direct culinary staff and provide coaching to unqualified staff.
• Ensure high hygiene standards through safe food handling and food safety systems.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus asSous Chefwill be tosupportthe head chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive,and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved withinbudget.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

• Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
• Understandingthe principles of safe food handling to ensure that all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen meets the highest hygiene standards.
• Supporting all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.
