Job Summary
The Elderflower is an award-winning restaurant that loves cooking for people who love food. Situated on a cobbled Quay Street in the heart of Lymington, this beautiful Georgian town is sited between the New Forest district of Hampshire and the West Solent.

We are currently looking for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team.

We are looking for individuals with a passion for food and a keen eye for detail. You must have good communication skills, a strong background in the industry and fine dining, be flexible, hardworking, and extremely passionate about food and high-quality ingredients. A strong experience in a similar role is essential with a Michelin or minimum 3 AA rosette cooking level.

The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and presentation. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Duties

  • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff management.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training on food preparation techniques.
  • Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in good working order.
  • Handle any customer complaints or feedback regarding food quality or service.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant environment.
  • Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • Experience in supervising kitchen staff and managing team dynamics.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
  • A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences.

The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday and closed Sunday evening, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

The position available is full-time & permanent. A valid working visa is required, we do not offer sponsorship at this current time.
