Job summary

Evergy in Kansas City, MO or Topeka, KS is seeking a Sourcing Specialist II or Sr for TDC Procurement. You will support day-to-day, emergent, near-term and long-term sourcing needs across Transmission, Distribution and Corporate partners, building strong relationships and driving value.

The role requires managing complex sourcing events, negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies, while coordinating with cross-functional teams and maintaining timely, accurate contract

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of progressively increasing responsibility in supply chain management, finance, engineering, or business operations.
• Experience in energy, utilities, manufacturing, or construction industry preferred.
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Zycus or other SCM/ERP software preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain or related field not required but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate relationship management principles and drive customer satisfaction across enterprise requirements.
• Source and contract for complex materials and services above bid threshold with cross-functional teams.
• Review, negotiate, and approve deviations from procurement policies in SOWs and Master Agreements.
• Update contract changes via amendments and resolve PO match exceptions.

LOCATION: Kansas City, MO OR Topeka, KS
PAY RANGE:
Sourcing Specialist II - Min: $66,600 - Mid: $83,200 - 14A
Sr Sourcing Specialist - Min: $75,300 - Mid: $100,400 - 15A
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with flexibility within schedule. Job may require additional hours as required.

Position Summary: The Sourcing Specialist serves as the Procurement representative supporting Transmission, Distribution and Corporate business partners for day-to-day, emergent, near-term, and long-term sourcing needs. The Sourcing Specialist identifies and manages key business relationships and opportunities to continually improve the customer relationship, performance, and engagement to the benefit of our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate and model application of business partner relationship management principles and day-to-day execution of responsibilities to achieve expected results. Build customers' understanding of enterprise requirements and SCM strategic direction, in addition to seeking ways to improve customer satisfaction.
• Source and contract for complex materials and services, above the bid the threshold, often as part of a cross-functional team, in a manner consistent with procurement policies and plans that generates economic value and reduced risk.
• Review, negotiate, and obtain final approval of any deviations from corporate procurement policies and procedures and terms and conditions on Statements of Work and Master Agreements.
• Update contract changes via Amendments and resolves purchase order match exceptions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of two (2) years of progressively increasing responsibility in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or Business Operations. Experience in the energy, utilities, manufacturing, or construction industry is preferred.
• Ability to execute on several complex sourcing events concurrently in a matrix organization and with off-site management.
• Intermediate skill level in using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, CoPilot and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Zycus and/or other Supply Chain Management/ERP software is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field is not required however preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

• Effective multi-tasker, prioritizing, addressing, and advancing multiple projects/issues concurrently in a fast-paced environment, keeping relevant stakeholders informed.
• Ability to organize and execute sourcing events involving cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to apply basic understanding of procurement, risk management, supplier diversity, negotiating and contracting principles and best practices including applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to achieve successful results.
• Basic financial and analytical skills, effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and influence skills.

Licenses, Certificates, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Must have a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions: Primarily office working conditions with occasional field setting instances. Occasional travel may be required to facilities across the Evergy territory. Must have the ability to work additional hours on short notice. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
