A leading company in the medical device industry is seeking a Sourcing Manager for their Purchased Finished Goods category, responsible for overseeing procurement strategies and supplier relationships. The role demands experience in sourcing, negotiation, and risk management, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and ensure cost-effective supply chain practices. Purpose:
The Sourcing Manager for the Purchased Finished Goods (PFG) category is responsible for managing and executing procurement strategies for products sourced from OEM suppliers. This includes overseeing the procurement of raw materials, fabricated components, capital equipment, and contract services. The role involves developing and maintaining a robust supplier base capable of delivering quality materials on time and at competitive prices, while enforcing corporate purchasing policies and procedures. This is a remote position with up to 30% travel
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Category Strategy:Develop, maintain, and execute a Supplier Category Strategy to ensure continuity of supply and maximize purchasing efficiency.
Risk Management:Evaluate, mitigate, or retire supply chain risks as appropriate.
Vendor Research:Research potential category vendors and compare their products, processes, prices, and services.
Contract Negotiation:Negotiate contracts with category vendors and establish terms for pricing and delivery.
Market Analysis:Conduct market analysis to assess future supply needs and impacts.
Supply Chain Optimization:Resolve ongoing supply constraints and identify additional opportunities within existing products/services.
Reporting:Report supply challenges as needed.
Supplier Selection:Manage and execute the supplier selection process in collaboration with key business partners, ensuring new business is awarded according to the established sourcing strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:Coordinate with other department managers on programs and projects of mutual concern, serving on committees and executing related assignments as required.
Supplier Visits:Visit supplier facilities to observe operations and discuss business relationships. Analyze specifications to determine the best procurement sources.
Cost Reduction:Initiate cost reduction programs with suppliers and develop strategies to leverage supplier relationships and core competencies to reduce manufacturing costs.
Advisory Role:Advise company personnel at all levels on matters related to planning for the purchase of items and services.
Required Qualifications:
Education:B.S./B.A. degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. C.P.M. certification is desirable.
Experience:5 years of experience in strategic sourcing and/or materials management.
Up to 30% travel
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
Experience in a medical device manufacturing industry or with similar product categories.
Proven track record of cost reduction and supplier relationship management.
Specific knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials for electro-mechanical assemblies and finished goods. Experience managing contract manufacturer relationships and understanding purchasing procedures, practices, and category management
Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with procurement software and supply chain management tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in market analysis and risk management.

Disclosure as required by applicable law, the annual salary range for this position is $118,000-$190,000. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level. The salary range is CONMED’s good faith belief at the time of this posting.
