Job summary

The Salvation Army in Hattiesburg, MS seeks a part-time Store Associate for the ALM-Hattiesburg Family Store. 29 hours per week with benefits; will alternate working one Saturday per month.

Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, pricing donated items, maintaining order in the warehouse, tagging items, and assisting customers. No formal education required; accrued PTO and AFLAC policies available.

Job Details: Job Location: ALM-Hattiesburg Ms Family Store - Hattiesburg, MS 39401, Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More, Job Category: Store, Schedule/Hours: (29.00 hours weekly – this is a PART-TIME POSITION – WILL ALTERNATE WORKING ONE SATURDAY PER MONTH)

This position is responsible for:

• Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store.
• Determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards.
• Assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receives, inspects and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brac, et. according to the category and condition.
• Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items in accordance with established procedures.
• Tags items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures.
• Hangs clothes on hangers and places same on clothes rack..

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to communicate the English language.
• Ability to sort items in accordance with established categories.
• Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
• Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
