The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Sorter/Processor to perform a variety of functions to assist in the operation of the sorting room or production area of a Production Store.
Duties:
- Assist with sorting room operation as required.
- Cross-train in all sorting room functions under the guidance of the Sorting Room Supervisor.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining the sorting room area.
- Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.
- Responsible for baling as needed.
- Support the work therapy program by demonstrating professional conduct, work habits, and supervision as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator.
Sorter:
- Process and sort donations by inspecting and separating saleable from unsaleable items.
- Deliver at least 300 store-quality garments per hour.
- Categorize and box seasonal clothing, bric-a-brac, and shoes.
Hanger/Tagger:
- Process, hang, and tag all sorted merchandise.
- Hang a minimum of 225 garments per hour.
- Ensure clothes are hung according to policy and on proper hangers.
- Place tags properly on garments according to Salvation Army policy.
Pricer:
- Price all sorted merchandise.
- Price at least 225 garments per hour.
- Consider quality, brand, and condition to determine pricing.
Bric a Brac:
- Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous donations daily.
- Ticket each item and assign a fair market price.
- Arrange merchandise in the required order and manner.
- Rag out merchandise following the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
Shoes/Accessories:
- Sort and clean saleable shoes, handbags, and accessories daily.
- Ticket and price each item individually.
- Process a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour, maintaining order.
- Rag out merchandise per the calendar.
Domestics:
- Sort and measure saleable linen items daily.
- Ticket and price each item.
- Process at least 25 pieces/sets per hour, maintaining order.
- Rag out merchandise as per the calendar.
Books/Records/Toys:
- Sort and clean merchandise daily.
- Ticket and price items according to policies.
- Maintain merchandise in proper order.
- Rag out merchandise following the calendar.
Furniture/Electrical:
- Sort, clean, and test electrical and furniture donations.
- Ticket electrical items as 'sold as is' and price accordingly.
- Record information and price furniture items.
- Maintain merchandise in order.
- Mark down furniture on the sales floor as per policy.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of clothing quality and pricing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
