Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a dedicated Sorter/Donation Processor in Oroville, CA to prepare donated items for retail sale or salvage in line with Salvation Army policy and procedures. You will sort, clean, package and load donations, maintain a clean processing area, and follow safety and reporting procedures.

A High School diploma or GED and safety training are required, with only minimal related experience acceptable.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must complete safety training provided by immediate Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Follow procedure as it pertains to sorting, cleaning, preparing, shipping and receiving donated items for sale.
  • Keep donation area clean and free of debris.
  • Sorting donations of clothing, furniture, electrical and miscellaneous household items.
  • Loading donations for truck delivery.
  • Adhere to all safety policies as it pertains to loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Follow all accident and injury reporting procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized receiving and processing area.
  • Determine which items are saleable, repairable or salvageable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to proper dress code, with uniform as designated by direct Supervisor.

General Statement

A. BASIC PURPOSE

The Purpose of the Sorter/Donation Processor is to prepare donations for retail sale or salvage according to Salvation Army policy and production procedures.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow procedure as it pertains to sorting, cleaning, preparing, shipping and receiving donated items for sale
  • Keep donation area clean and without debris
  • Sorting donations of clothing, furniture, electrical and miscellaneous household items
  • Loading donations for truck delivery
  • Adhere to all safety policies as it pertains to loading and unloading of trucks
  • Follow all accident and injury reporting procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized receiving and processing area
  • Determine which items are saleable, repairable or salvageable
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to proper dress code, with uniform as designated by direct Supervisor
C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements
  • High School diploma or General Education degree (GED): or one or two months of related job experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must complete and follow all safety training requirements provided by immediate Supervisor.
