Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to operate ultrasound equipment, capture diagnostic images, and assist in imaging procedures. The role requires preparing high-quality images for PACS and maintaining a clean, compliant department.

The successful candidate will possess an associate or bachelor’s degree, completion of a diagnostic sonography certificate, and RDMS certification, ensuring accurate exams and patient care in a busy imaging department.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in sciences/anatomy or equivalent for registration/licensing.
• Certificate program in diagnostic sonography completed.
• RDMS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust ultrasound equipment and manually maneuver transducers for exams.
• Prepare high-quality images and documentation for PACS.
• Maintain department cleanliness and order and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Recognize structures, artifacts, and pathology; report equipment limitations.

Overview

Responsible for using imaging equipment and ultrasound to capture images of various body parts, analyzing these sonographic images to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust equipment, manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
• Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures.
• Conduct routine and complex studies and assist in imaging procedures.
• Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensure equipment functions properly, report problems, lock/tag out if needed.
• Promptly submit high‑quality images and documentation to PACS.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, orderly department.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree with coursework in sciences and anatomy, or equivalent, required for registration and licensing as a sonographer.
• Completion of a certificate program in diagnostic medical sonography.
• RDMS certification required.
