Job summary

Atlantic Health in Union, NJ is seeking a skilled sonographer to operate ultrasound equipment, acquire and analyze images, and support physicians in diagnosis and treatment decisions.

You will set up and adjust equipment, perform routine and complex studies, ensure image quality and data accuracy, and maintain department safety and organization in a fast-paced radiology setting.

Qualifications

• Proficient in operating ultrasound equipment and acquiring high-quality images.
• Knowledge of human anatomy relevant to sonography.
• Understanding of safety standards and quality control procedures.
• Ability to recognize artifacts and pathology during imaging.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust all imaging equipment, manually maneuver transducers for exams.
• Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures.
• Perform routine and complex studies and assist in imaging procedures.
• Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report malfunctions.
• Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images to PACS with correct patient data/history.
• Maintain a clean and orderly department and storage areas.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for using imaging equipment and ultrasound to form images of many parts of the body. They are trained to acquire and analyze these sonographic images. These images are used to help doctors diagnose and treat many medical conditions.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
2. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
3. Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
4. Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
5. Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
6. Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
7. Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
8. Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
