Qualifications

• Must be ARDMS registered in one of the listed scopes or board-eligible within 12 months of hire.
• Maintain active ARDMS registry (CME requirements).
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire and every 2 years.
• Physician-ordered ultrasound procedures with patient education responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality ultrasound procedures using proper positioning and technical factors across patient populations.
• Conduct clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
• Educate patients about exams and obtain informed consent when necessary.
• Adhere to safety standards and established department protocols.
• Apply critical thinking in daily and emergent protocol decisions.
• Assess patient preparation and scanning protocols for each exam.
• Follow established Ultrasound Department protocols.
• Observe safety while handling patients during examinations.
• Operate 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound units with appropriate transducers and document measurements.

What You Will Do

• Performs quality ultrasound procedures by utilizing proper positioning skills and technical factors, as well as a knowledge of anatomical structures pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics.
• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
• Educates patients of exams being performed and obtains consent to perform procedure when necessary.
• Practices proper safety in accordance with established standards.
• Utilizes critical thinking in daily and emergent assessment of proper protocols.
• Assess each patient for proper preparation and scanning protocol for each ordered exam.
• Follows protocols that have been established for the Ultrasound Department.
• Observes safety precautions when handling patients, while performing examinations and while patients are in direct contact.
• Operates 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound unit with appropriate transducers to perform and adequately ascertain the location of specific organs, with the demonstration of recorded images which reflect the appropriate calculations for accurate measurements.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with one of the following.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
• Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS)
• If not registered, be board-eligible and become registered with ARDMS within one year of hire.
• Maintains active registry status with ARDMS (30 CME’s every 3 yrs/annual payment)
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within six (6) months of hire and every three (3) years thereafter.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire and every two (2) years thereafter.
