Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group – Northeast Iowa is seeking a Part-time Ultrasound Technologist to perform vascular and general ultrasound exams under physician orders. You will prepare patients, operate equipment, document findings, and communicate results to radiologists while upholding MercyOne's care standards.

The role requires ARDMS certification (RDMS/RDSC/RVT/RMSKS) or eligible within 12 months, BLS, ongoing registry maintenance, and commitment to patient safety and age-specific care from Neonate

Qualifications

• Registered sonographer with ARDMS in RDMS, RDCS, RVT or RMSKS or eligible to register within one year.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire and recertification every two years.
• Maintain active registry status with ARDMS per policy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient, room and equipment for ultrasound procedures.
• Perform vascular and general ultrasound exams as ordered and document findings.
• Provide patient education and pertinent information to radiologists for interpretation.
• Communicate exam results to radiologists and maintain safety/infection control.
• Adhere to age-appropriate care from neonate to geriatrics per unit policy.

Position Purpose:

Performs ultrasonography procedures including vascular and general sonography for patients as ordered by the physician and provides diagnostic exams and communications for radiologist’s interpretation. Adheres to MercyOne performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedure.

Collects history data from patient and provides patient education.

Provides patient cares in accordance with department policy.

Performs ultrasound procedure.

Provides radiologist pertinent information for interpretation.

Performs sonograms and documents and communicates findings to radiologist.

Performs doppler/color flow diagnostic studies and is able to accurately measure velocities and frequency shifts.

Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.

Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:

Birth-28 days: Neonate

1-18 Months: Infant

18 Mo-3 Yrs: Toddler

3-6 Yrs: Pre-School Aged

6-12 Yrs: School-Aged

12-18 Yrs: Adolescents

18-65 Yrs: Adults

65+ Yrs: Geriatrics

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with one of the following.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
• Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS)
• If not registered, be board-eligible and become registered with ARDMS within one year of hire.
• Maintains active registry status with ARDMS (30 CME’s every 3 yrs/annual payment)
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within six (6) months of hire and every three (3) years thereafter.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire and every two (2) years thereafter.
