Job summary

DEPARTMENT: Imaging

SCHEDULE: Call Coverage Only (Monday - Friday, 4:30P-7A, & weekend rotation)

The Sonographer obtains high-quality images while providing exceptional patient care and maintaining a consistent level of quality. Attributes

• Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate OR Bachelor's Degree in Ultrasound
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification required (within six months of graduation from an accredited program, within one year of graduation from a non-accredited program).

Responsibilities

• Perform abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and/or transcranial Doppler ultrasound scans; produce ultrasound images and obtain all required measurements; assist attending physicians with invasive procedures under sonographic guidance.
• Document scans in patient charts, complete preliminary reporting; phone preliminary reports into doctors’ offices or nursing floors at the request of the Radiologist.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills

• For Radiology sites/affiliates with ACR accreditation, RDMS certification required (within 6 months of graduation from Commission on Accreditation of Allied Programs, or within 18 months of graduation from a non-accredited program).
• For Neurovascular & Vascular, the RDMS is not required.

Physical Requirements

M - Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
