Job summary

UR Thompson Health is seeking an experienced OB/GYN Sonographer for Canandaigua Medical Group. The role involves performing diagnostic ultrasound, assessing patients, and communicating findings to physicians to aid diagnosis and management.

The position requires ARDMS, BLS, and independent work ability, with on-site parking and a supportive, high-tech environment. Schedule includes Monday and Tuesday daytime coverage, with potential to fill additional shifts in Canandaigua, Farmington, and

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent experience.
• ARDMS certification is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Registered OB/GYN within one year of hire.
• Abdomen registration preferred.
• Nuchal Translucency and CLEAR certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year ultrasound experience preferred.
• BS degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessments and acquires data via ultrasound.
• Provides a summary of findings to physicians to aid diagnosis and management.
• Demonstrates independence and prioritization of assignments.
• Maintains collaborative relationships with team and medical staff.

• Schedule:** Coverage needed on Mondays and Tuesday day hours with opportunity to fill in for more. \*No on-call requirements! Locations in Canandaigua, Farmington, and Geneva.
• Pay Range:** $39.60-50.60 per hour, based on experience.

Job Description

• The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs patient assessments, acquires and analyzes data obtained using ultrasound and related diagnostic technologies, provides a summary of findings to the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and management and uses independent judgment and systematic problem solving methods to produce high quality diagnostic information and optimize patient care.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making & prioritizing assignments.
• Demonstrates the ability to develop & maintain collaborative working relationships with all team members & medical staff.
• Actively guards confidentiality of sensitive info. including but not limited to the patients, staff & the health system.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret each patient's requirements relative to age‑specific needs and to the care of the patient.
• Demonstrates computer knowledge & skills including the various EMR modules & the PACS system.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited ultrasound program or registered with equivalent ultrasound experience required
• Certified with ARDMS required
• BLS certification required
• BS degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound preferred
• Registered in OB/GYN within one year
• Registered in Abdomen preffered.
• Maintains professional credentials specifically related to Sonography & participates in continuing ed. activities through professional societies & orgs.
• Nuchal Translucency and CLEAR certification preferred
• Minimum of one year Ultrasound experience preferred.

• Sits or stands for long periods of time. Use of personal computers.
• Exposed to emotional and psychological stresses associated with caring for patients.
• Must be able to perform without physical limitations.
