Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed fetal anatomical surveys, including twins and triplets; acquire data for interpretation by a physician.
• Assist physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
• Accurately document exam findings, measurements, images, and procedural details.
• Record patient history, indications, and observations per protocols and regulatory standards.
• Generate clear preliminary reports for physician review and final signature.
• Review studies with interpreting physicians to communicate findings and support diagnostic accuracy.
• Maintain documentation per organizational policies, accreditation and safety standards.
• Select and assign exam types and codes to support accurate reporting and billing.
• Escort patients and families respectfully to and from the exam room.
• Prepare patients, verify identity, review history, and ensure comfort and privacy.
• Explain procedures and maintain patient reassurance and safety during exams.
• Ensure consent is obtained and equipment operates correctly.
• Rotate to other locations to cover absences and perform related duties as assigned

Overview

Pediatrix Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our team at one of our Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics in Issaquah, WA. At Pediatrix, we are passionate about giving high-risk expectant mothers and their babies the care they deserve.

Responsibilities

The diagnostic medical Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The diagnostic medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. They work closely with perinatologists, providing preliminary reports and assisting with procedures. Provide a brief description of the job’s primary purpose and responsibility within the organization.

• Perform detailed fetal anatomical surveys, including twins and triplets. Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
• Accurately documents exam findings, measurements, images, and procedural details in the ultrasound reporting and image archiving systems.
• Records patient history, indications, and pertinent observations in accordance with departmental protocols and regulatory standards.
• Generates clear, comprehensive preliminary reports for interpreting physician review and final signature.
• Reviews completed studies with interpreting physicians to communicate findings, address questions, and support diagnostic accuracy.
• Ensures documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with organizational policies, accreditation requirements, and patient safety standards.
• Selects and assigns appropriate exam types, procedures, and indication (diagnosis) codes based on services performed, clinical documentation, and provider orders to support accurate reporting, interpretation, and billing.
• Escorts patients and accompanying family members to and from the examination room in a courteous and professional manner.
• Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations by verifying identity, reviewing relevant history, and ensuring comfort and privacy.
• Explains complex procedures and examinations to patients and family.
• Provides reassurance and clear communication throughout the exam to support patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
• Ensures the appropriate consent and/or declinations are obtained.
• Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Maintains laundry for examination rooms.
• Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies
• Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
• Follows and complies with universal precautions and OSHA standards. Follows and complies with safety and security training.
• Rotates to other locations as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
• Performs related and other assigned duties as directed.

Qualifications

Education:

• Satisfactory completion of one of the following; graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent, at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in ultrasonography, or graduate from an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent

• Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).

• ARDMS OB/GYN or Fetal Echo (FE) certified or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire.

• Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.

• NT experience or certification preferred.

• CPR certification preferred

Experience

• Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.

Benefits and Compensation

Regular full-timeis classified as team members who are consistently scheduled and work 30 hours or more on a weekly basis. Regular full-time team members are eligible for the following:

• Pay Range (Base Pay): $46.39 - $89.72 per hour.

• Starting Pay Range (Base Pay):$47.00 - $80.00 per hour.
