Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our team at one of our Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics in Seattle, WA. We provide care for high-risk expectant mothers and their babies with a dedicated team of specialists.

Responsibilities include performing detailed fetal anatomical surveys, assisting with procedures, documenting findings, and generating preliminary reports for physician review.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
  • Maintain or be eligible for ARDMS certification.
  • ARDMS OB/GYN or Fetal Echo (FE) certified or eligible within 12 months of hire.
  • Evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
  • NT experience or certification preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed fetal anatomical surveys, including twins and triplets, and acquire data for physician interpretation.
  • Assist physicians with amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling procedures.
  • Document exam findings, measurements, images, and procedural details in ultrasound systems.
  • Record patient history and indications per departmental protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Generate clear preliminary reports for interpreting physicians.
  • Review completed studies with interpreting physicians to support diagnostic accuracy.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with policies and safety standards.
  • Select exam types and indication codes to support accurate reporting and billing.
  • Escort patients and family members to and from the examination room professionally.
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound exams by verifying identity and history; ensure comfort and privacy.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families and provide reassurance throughout the exam.
  • Obtain appropriate consent/declinations as required.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and recognize malfunctions; take corrective action.
  • Maintain inventory of ultrasound supplies and rotate to other locations as needed.

Pediatrix Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our team at one of our Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics in Seattle, WA. At Pediatrix, we are passionate about giving high-risk expectant mothers and their babies the care they deserve.

  • Perform detailed fetal anatomical surveys, including twins and triplets. Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Assists physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
  • Accurately documents exam findings, measurements, images, and procedural details in the ultrasound reporting and image archiving systems.
  • Records patient history, indications, and pertinent observations in accordance with departmental protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Generates clear, comprehensive preliminary reports for interpreting physician review and final signature.
  • Reviews completed studies with interpreting physicians to communicate findings, address questions, and support diagnostic accuracy.
  • Ensures documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with organizational policies, accreditation requirements, and patient safety standards.
  • Selects and assigns appropriate exam types, procedures, and indication (diagnosis) codes based on services performed, clinical documentation, and provider orders to support accurate reporting, interpretation, and billing.
  • Escorts patients and accompanying family members to and from the examination room in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations by verifying identity, reviewing relevant history, and ensuring comfort and privacy.
  • Explains complex procedures and examinations to patients and family.
  • Provides reassurance and clear communication throughout the exam to support patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
  • Ensures the appropriate consent and/or declinations are obtained.
  • Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintains laundry for examination rooms.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies
  • Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
  • Follows and complies with universal precautions and OSHA standards. Follows and complies with safety and security training.
  • Rotates to other locations as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
  • Performs related and other assigned duties as directed.
Education
  • Satisfactory completion of one of the following; graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent, at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in ultrasonography, or graduate from an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent
  • Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
  • ARDMS OB/GYN or Fetal Echo (FE) certified or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
  • NT experience or certification preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred
Experience
  • Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.

Pay Range (Base Pay)

$46.39 - $89.72 per hour.

Starting Pay Range (Base Pay)

$47.00 - $80.00 per hour.

Health Insurance

Pediatrix does not offer health insurance for team members in a Per Diem role.

Per-diem is defined as team members who are scheduled as needed and not on a consistent basis.

Pediatrix does not offer paid time off for team members in a Per Diem role.

Paid Sick Leave

Per Diem team members will accrue one hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked. Team members begin to accrue sick leave upon hire. However, they cannot use accrued sick leave until their 90th day of employment. There is no annual cap on accrual; however, team members will be able to carry over up to 108 hours of unused paid sick leave to the following year.

NOTE

The Company will not pay team members for unused sick leave upon termination of employment.
