Job summary

Qualifications

  • Three years of ultrasound experience in an acute care facility, or RDMS entry level (0–3 years).
  • American Heart Association BLS-CPR within 30 days.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or equivalent credentials upon hire.
  • Demonstrates strong patient communication and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures per department standards and orders.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and ensure high-quality image acquisition.
  • Interviews patients for medical history and obtains consent.
  • Present preliminary findings to physicians and participate in departmental activities.
  • Maintain safety, infection control, and equipment readiness.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Sonographer, you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.
Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.
To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.

  • Clinical Competency: Performs diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department standards, and in keeping with the orders of the referring physician. Operates all ultrasound equipment, computers, and accessories.
  • Demonstrates competency in film-processing procedures. Identifies and initiates accurate assessment of life-threatening conditions. Troubleshoots equipment and cooperates with service personnel in order to maintain minimal down time. Initiates service calls on all equipment assigned to the area.Charges exams and supplies on a daily basis when work is completed.
  • Patient Care: Interviews patients for pertinent medical history and obtains consents on patients prior to performing studies as required
  • Department Support; Participates in departmental meetings, in-services, and committees. Orders and maintains supplies at an acceptable.
  • Safety; Uses sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination.
  • Compliance with Policy and Procedures: Complies with safety, infection control, CHW Integrity Program, and other organizational policies. (90 day evals - department specific orientation checklists completed; annual evals - annual competency checklists completed) Complies with the organization's dress code. Arrives at work on time, as defined by the Timeliness and Attendance Policy. Attends work consistently, as defined by the Timeliness and Attendance Policy.
Job Requirements
Required
  • 3 years experience performing Ultrasoundprocedures in an acute facility if not RDMS, or
    • Entry level for RDMS 0-3 years experience
  • American Heart Association BLS-CPR, within 30 Days and
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, upon hire or
  • Registered Cardiac Electr, upon hire or
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, upon hire or
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Computed Tomography, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire or
