Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform ultrasound imaging and related procedures, collaborating with Radiologists to ensure high-quality studies.

The position requires ARDMS eligibility and RDMS registration within 12 months, plus current BLS certification, with knowledge of routine ultrasound exams, patient positioning, safety, and meticulous documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of sonography.
• RDMS eligibility required; must be registered through ARDMS within 12 months of hire.
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
• Position patient and operate equipment to obtain high quality images.
• Ensure patient safety, proper identification and documentation of findings.
• Adhere to state and federal regulations and department policies.
• Provide supervision and instruction to students or junior sonographers as needed.

Position Summary

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
• Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
• Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
• Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
• Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
• Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
• Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
• Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers.
• Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Ensures safety of all customers.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and educational requirements.

• Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
• Maintains well stocked and organized work areas.
• May be required to work at any facility
• Provides patient transport.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.

Licensure/Certification

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate.
• Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry
• Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within twelve (12) months of hire

Experience

• Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department.
