Job summary

Brookwood Baptist Health seeks an experienced sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams in collaboration with Radiology. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, accurate imaging, and adherence to quality standards.

The candidate will work with ARDMS-eligible or RDMS-certified professionals, maintain CPR/BLS certification, and participate in ongoing QC activities. Training of student sonographers may be required. Education benefits and competitive pay are offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of sonography with ARDMS eligibility.
• Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate maintained.
• Must be RDMS registered through ARDMS or eligible and obtain registration within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
• Positions patient, equipment, and devices to obtain high quality images for interpretation.
• Maintains compliance with Quality Control standards and participates in QC tasks.
• Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers.
• Utilizes corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.

Position Summary

Essential Functions

• Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
• Exercises professional judgment in performance ofservices and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.

• Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desiredresults.
• Performs proper patientidentification,acquires patient’s clinical history, and assuresthatthe information is accurately documented.
• Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulatestechnical factorsto achieve high quality imagesfor interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Controlstandards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
• Applies appropriate standard precautions and personalprotective equipmentto prevent cross-contaminationof contagious diseases.
• Assists in supervision ofstudent sonographers and training of new sonographers.
• Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Ensures safety of all customers.
• Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies,the ADA, FMLA and otherfederal,state and localstandards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies andprocedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.

Licensure/Certification

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)registered through the American Registry ofDiagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate.
• Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry
• Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within twelve (12) months of hire

Experience

• Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department.
