Job summary

Centra Health is seeking an Ultrasound Sonographer to autonomously perform complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging for patients of all ages under physician supervision, including inpatient, outpatient, portable and OR studies.

Qualified applicants will have 2 years or more of ultrasound experience, be ARDMS/CCI registered (or registry eligible) with commitment to obtain certification within 1 year, and will contribute to a safe, efficient imaging service.

Qualifications

• Required Education: Associated Degree or completion of a Certification Program in Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Radiology.
• Registry requirements: ARDMS or CCI registration within 1 year of employment; registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS or registered within 6–12 months.
• Experience: 2 years or more in diagnostic ultrasound.

Responsibilities

• Within a clinical setting, autonomously performs complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging for patients of all ages, under physician supervision.
• Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data to determine medical necessity and ensure complete, accurate orders.
• Contacts ordering physicians if imaging requests are inadequate and documents findings for radiologist interpretation.
• Performs exams in inpatient, outpatient, portable and operating room settings; provides preliminary technical findings.
• Assists with training of students and staff and maintains a safe, comfortable imaging environment.
• Follows established protocols, aseptic technique, infection control, and departmental policies.
• Compiles and forwards completed study data to radiologists or Cardiologists with appropriate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Within a setting renowned for clinical excellence, you will perform diagnostic ultrasounds for the imaging of normal and abnormal structures of the human body and provide quality care to patients of all ages.
• Assess patients appropriately for the procedures ordered prior to, during, and after treatment according to Imaging Services/Departmental Guidelines
• Take part in the training of students and staff as assigned.
• Create a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• As an Ultrasound Sonographer, you would prepare patients, collect relevant information for completion of procedures, and perform sonographic exams following defined protocols.
• Throughout the procedure, you would be observant of patients’ conditions, and notify physician of unusual occurrences.
• Compile appropriate records to expedite results.
• You will analyze the quality of images and processes as required.
• Completes data sheet containing pertinent patient information following exam prior to forwarding to radiologist or Cardiologist.
• Using the AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) process explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during exams.
• Follows department specific standard work and departmental policies.
• Practices aseptic techniques and good infection control procedures consistent with hospital policy.
• Secures and returns supplies and maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the work areas between each patient.

Qualifications

Required Education: Associated Degree or completion of a Certification Program in Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Radiology upon hire of an accredited sonography program and/or ARDMS registered (or registry eligible) in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), vascular technology (RVT) or Cardiac echo (RDCS). Registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS or registered in abdomen within 6 months of employment OR ARDMS/ CCI registered in adult echo or vascular within 1 year of employment.

Required Certifications and Licensures: Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or RDCS by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 1 year of employment. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

Salary Range: $31.88 - $47.82/Hourly Rate
