Job summary

Cardinal Points Imaging of the Carolinas is seeking an experienced Sonographer for a Full-Time Flex position at our Midtown location in Raleigh, with coverage at other CPIC locations throughout the area as needed. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Location: Midtown, Raleigh, NC, with coverage at other CPIC locations as needed. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations, ensuring image quality, and maintaining patient safety per established protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved program of diagnostic sonography.
• Must be registered or eligible (RDMS/ARRT) per state and center requirements.
• Experience: up to 1 year as licensed Sonographer.

Responsibilities

• Review and document orders, patient history, and informed consent when applicable.
• Prepare and position patients, explain procedures, and address patient needs throughout examinations.
• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations, optimize equipment settings, and evaluate images for quality and proper identification.
• Record sonographic data for physician interpretation and assist with interventional procedures.
• Conduct point-of-care creatinine clearance testing as required by protocols or orders.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, examination rooms, and digital imaging records.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and team meetings.
• Educate patients and assist with student training and preceptor duties as needed.
• Use AIDET and HEAL principles to provide compassionate patient service.
• Support other imaging center areas and perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Radiology Medical Director, the Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures while ensuring patient safety, image quality, and compliance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

• Up to 1 year experience as a licensed Sonographer.

EDUCATION:

• Must be a graduate of an approved program of diagnostic sonography.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) or ARRT (S). For IDTF centers, OB, Abdominal, or General certification is required upon hire, and RVT certification is required within one year of hire. Non-IDTF centers require RVT certification along with OB, Abdominal or General within one year of hire, where applicable. Additionally, must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Skill in operation of Sonography equipment as well as applicable ancillary equipment.
• Ability to work independently and multitask.
• Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.
• Demonstrates understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.
