Under the direct supervision of the Ultrasound Manager or designee, the Ultrasound Tech is responsible for completing all ultrasound imaging functions for the ordering physicians and radiologists. However, rather than completing these imaging functions within the traditional hospital setting, our Ultrasound techs enjoy independence, flexibility, and direct patient interaction by traveling to multiple healthcare facilities throughout their workday. At Onsite, we utilize advanced imaging technology and provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services while simultaneously playing a vital role in helping physicians diagnose and treat patients efficiently and accurately. The hours of work are flexible between 7:00a.m. to 6:00p.m., Monday through Friday. The Ultrasound Tech must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. The Ultrasound Tech must also have the ability to be part of a weekend on-call rotation, as needed, and determined by the Ultrasound Manager. The hours of work and days off are subject to change and based on the discretion of management. This is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt employment position.

Additional responsibilities of the Ultrasound Tech include, but are not limited, to the following:
  • Greeting and preparing patients for imaging procedures by explaining their necessity and the required approach;
  • Positioning patients correctly and assisting patients with mobility limitations or special needs in order to obtain accurate diagnostic images;
  • Follow provided Onsite ultrasound protocols for image documentation
  • Adjusting technical factors and imaging parameters to ensure optimal image quality while adhering to established ultrasound safety practices.
  • Completing Ultrasound Tech worksheets that explain test findings to the physician;
  • Identifying and documenting results that may indicate the need for immediate medical attention;
  • Evaluating images for diagnostic quality before submitting them for interpretation;
  • Monitoring patient comfort and safety throughout imaging procedures;
  • Producing high-quality ultrasound examinations and images, transmitting the images to one of our Radiology team members for interpretation and communicating any necessary information to the Radiologist or Onsite management;
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and maintenance schedule through Supervisors and Fleet;
  • Train other Ultrasound Techs as required;
  • Attend meetings as required;
  • Performing and/or assisting in all other duties as required by the management.
Working and Safety Conditions:
  • Employees work in inclement weather and driving conditions;
  • Experience exposure to a variety of medical conditions;
  • Heavy lifting is required to move the ultrasound equipment from the vehicle to the patient's bedside; occasionally the need to go upstairs is required and lift or move patients;
  • Work and care activities are performed in various nursing homes, patient dwellings and hospitals;
  • Employees may be required to maintain awkward scanning positions and perform repetitive upper-extremity movements that can place stress on the neck, shoulders, wrists, and back;
  • Employees are expected to utilize proper ergonomic techniques when transporting equipment, positioning patients, and performing ultrasound examinations.
  • Onsite recommends the use of back supports and will provide employees with one should employees choose so.

The individual selected for the position of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer must be cognizant of the confidential and sensitive nature of working in a healthcare agency and must always be in full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA") regulations. The individual selected for the position of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer must also comply with all Onsite rules regarding safety and security.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an ultrasound technology program with proven working knowledge of applicable universal precautions when having direct patient contact;
