Under the direction of the Radiology Manager and/or physician reading the study, performs all types of general ultrasound procedures, echocardiograms, and non-invasive vascular procedures utilizing independent judgement and initiative. Provides personalized care, recognizing the worth and dignity of each patient. Handles confidential information regarding patients. Will perform all work with accord to the mission, vision, and values of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Sonographer’s will work set days and hours during the week. If some shifts are not staffed, then work schedules may change. The Radiology Team Leader will arrange the work schedule to make sure that patients will receive high quality ultrasound procedures 24 hours a day. Call will be required, so exams ordered after normal working hours can be performed.
Education: Graduate of an approved school of Ultrasound
Licensure/Certification: Current ARDMS or CCI or registry eligible and pass registry within one year of date of hire; and BLS certification
Experience: Documented competency in echo and non-invasive vascular imaging. One (1) year of experience preferred.
Working Knowledge: Can manipulate the ultrasound equipment to adequately perform general, vascular, and echocardiogram exams. Can detect abnormal pathology and image the pathology. After finishing an ultrasound study, capable of sending high quality exams to the PACS System and then completing studies in the Cerner Computer System.
