Job summary

Under the guidance of physicians, the Ultrasound tech performs diagnostic ultrasonography for outpatients, ER, and inpatients. The role involves patient preparation, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort across all ages.

Responsibilities include operating ultrasound equipment, maintaining records, and assisting radiologists in invasive procedures while upholding infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required; graduate of approved Ultrasound/Sonography program or equivalent.
  • Licenses: ARDMS registered or ARDMS-eligible and pass a test in at least one area within one year of employment.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures per established standards.
  • Explain procedures to patients and ensure comfort.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and ensure accurate records and patient flow.
  • Coordinate scheduling of ultrasound and assist radiologist in invasive procedures as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, uphold infection control guidelines.

Schedule: Ultrasound Nights - Shift = 3-12s, Th/F/Sat = 3:30pm - 4:00am.

Provides afternoon and overnight coverage. Outpatients, ER, Inpatients. 3 nights per week.

Position Summary

Under the general guidance of the physicians/providers performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures.

  • Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable.
  • Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
  • Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.
  • Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.
  • Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested' refers any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure.
  • Assists the radiologist/referring physician in invasive procedures using sterile technique while maintaining infection control guidelines.
  • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations.
What We're Looking For
  • Education: Associate's degree Required; Graduate of approved program of Ultrasound/Sonography or equivalent
  • Licenses: ARDMS Registered or if new graduate, must be ARDMS eligible and pass a test in at least one area (i.e. Abdomen, OBGYN) including physics within one year of employment. State license to practice as a Sonographer.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
