Job summary

UP Health System- Marquette is seeking a Sonographer to join the Echocardiology Department. This .8 FTE position (32 hours per week) offers varied shifts and is a MAST Union role. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for external eligible candidates.

The Sonographer will operate ultrasound equipment for diagnostic exams, perform procedures, calibrate equipment, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process while maintaining documentation and workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.
• Performs ultrasound procedures and tasks.
• Calibrates, adjusts, and maintains ultrasound and peripheral equipment.
• Assesses and prepares patients of all ages for examinations and explains procedure to patient and/or family while performing the examination.
• Provides basic patient care and comfort: Maintains infection control and universal precautions as it relates to patient care and equipment.
• Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable.
• Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.
• Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.
• Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested
