Job summary

Advanced Medical Imaging in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Sonographer who works under the general direction of the Lead Sonographer and Imaging Center Manager, independently performing sonography procedures for radiologists.

You will follow orders, ensure patient comfort, maintain records, and produce high-quality images for timely interpretation. ARDMS certification, BLS, and 1–2 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program and/or School of Sonography.
  • One to two years related work experience.
  • ARDMS certification is required; BLS; valid driver's license when driving for work-related reasons.

Responsibilities

  • Performs sonography procedures as requested for radiologist interpretation according to policy and procedures.
  • Follows orders from referring providers and verifies accuracy of documentation.
  • Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and maintains patient comfort and safety.
  • Maintains complete patient records, obtains histories, and documents rationale for procedures.
  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment settings for optimal views.
  • Monitors patients during exams and responds to discomfort or problems.
  • Produces high-quality images and presents them with relevant patient data for interpretation.
  • Maintains a safe environment and adheres to safety policies.
  • Performs sterile techniques and maintains cross-contamination prevention.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and adheres to regulatory standards.
  • Assists with inventory management to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • May perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Job description

The Sonographer works under the general direction of the Lead Sonographer and/or the Imaging Center Manager. Independently completes sonography procedures of specified anatomy as requested for subsequent evaluation by radiologists in accordance with established rules of good practice and established policies and procedures.

  • Exhibits exemplary technical competence in performing sonography procedures while also functioning as a patient advocate.
  • Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers orders. Uses and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
  • Exhibits compassion while interacting with patient, explaining procedure thoroughly and answering any questions as appropriate.
  • Ensures patient medical records are complete. Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients.
  • Selects appropriate equipment settings and positions patient for appropriate view.
  • Monitors patient's wellbeing during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
  • Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation by radiologists. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff. Adheres to safety policies.
  • Practices sterile procedures to prevent cross contamination.
  • Accountable for the ethical, legal, professional and certification responsibilities related to the practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Assists with monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

  • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Regularly and consistently demonstrates commitment to organization values
Certifications & Licensure
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) preferred
  • Must maintain continuing education requirements for certification(s)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
Education & Experience
  • Graduate from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and/or School of Sonography
  • One to two years related work experience
