- Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center* is an 881-bed quaternary care academic medical center that is a joint venture between Baylor College of Medicine and CHI St. Luke’s Health. *Responsibilities*
*Position Responsibilities*
- Performs ultrasound exams on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols under the direction of the Medical Director
- Prepares equipment ensuring that it is operational, safe and functioning according to diagnostic standards
- Problem-solves equipment failure and imaging quality and contacts service representative or CES regarding equipment problems
- Ensures that daily equipment and room maintenance are performed before/during/ after each procedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensure infection control standards
- Completes all quality checks and Ensures that equipment logs are maintained
- Completes all clinical supply inventories, ensuring that each diagnostic room is complete with the necessary supplies required to perform the procedure
- Demonstrates competency in PACS process and Performs the daily QA process
- Actively Participates with patient testing, performing routine, non-routine, urgent, and emergent patient exams.
- Communicates with Patient Transportation, Nursing Units, Physician Offices, and other diagnostic areas to ensure that the patients receive their diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient and safe manner
- Performs portable examinations (when applicable) at the bedside to ensure patient safety as well as provide immediate diagnostic testing when needed
- Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images
- Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to Accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings
- Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information with medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician
- Assumes responsibility for the safety, emotional and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographers care
- Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound suite
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations
- Maintains a daily log of patient’s seen/ completes exam-billing forms
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and Maintains adequate supplies
- Participates in the maintenance of the ultrasound accreditation
*Qualifications*
Education And Licensure
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARRT;
- BLS certification
Experience
- Previous experience preferred
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Good alpha/numeric dexterity and handwriting skills
- Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills

$44.00 - $44.00 /hour
