The h.wood Group is hiring a Sommelier for Delilah Miami to support and elevate the guest experience through expert wine knowledge and beverage program oversight.

You will guide guests through the wine list, offer thoughtful recommendations, and ensure service aligns with the restaurant’s standards while collaborating with the Wine Director. Inventory, stocking, and POS accuracy are key components of the role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in high volume, elevated dining restaurant.
  • Food Handler’s Certification required.
  • Must be 21+ years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Detail oriented with strong communication and written skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, professional and courteous.
  • Stand for up to 8 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of wine list, and wine and food pairings.
  • Clean equipment, tools, and supplies for wine service; ensure good working order and sanitation.
  • Maintain and update cellar/storage inventory according to pars and controls and request stock.
  • Meet with wine trade to seek quality wines for the program and evaluate beverages for purchase.
  • Train and supervise staff on wine knowledge, pour levels, and storage to reduce waste.
  • Verify accuracy of wine deliveries and manage returns for warehouse issues.
  • Manage beverage costs by handling purchases and requisitions.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Delilah Miami is seeking a Sommelier to support and elevate the guest experience through expert knowledge of wine and the overall beverage program. Working closely with the Wine Director, you will assist in guiding guests through the wine list, offering thoughtful recommendations, and ensuring service is warm, professional, and aligned with the restaurant’s standards. Responsibilities include assisting with inventory management, stocking, and maintaining accuracy within the POS system. The ideal candidate is service-minded, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality, with a strong interest in wine and a willingness to learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain complete knowledge of wine list, and wine and food pairings.
  • Clean equipment, tools, and supplies for wine service and ensure equipment is in good working order, including cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance.
  • Maintain and update cellar/storage inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock.
  • Meet regularly with the wine trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program as well as evaluate wines and other beverages for potential purchase.
  • Eliminate waste by training and supervising employees on wine knowledge, pour levels, proper storage, etc.
  • Verify accuracy of wine delivery ordered and received from the main warehouse and return or exchange deliveries when a warehouse error has occurred.
  • Maintain appropriate beverage costs by managing purchases and requisitions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in high volume, elevated dining restaurant.
  • Must have Food Handler’s Certification.
  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess effective communication and written skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Self-motivated and performance driven.
  • Professional and courteous.
  • Remain in stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout the work shift.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
