Job summary

A leading security contractor is seeking a Somali Linguist for a part-time position based in El Paso, Texas. You will perform real-time transcriptions from Somali to English and transcribe various media. Ideal candidates must possess strong verbal and written skills in Somali and English, be familiar with colloquial terms, and demonstrate a history of reliable transcription work. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, along with the ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree AND 3 years’ experience OR Associate degree AND 5 years’ experience OR High School Diploma AND 7 years’ experience.
• Minimum 1 year of transcription experience in the required language.
• Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.

Responsibilities

• Perform real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Somali to English.
• Transcribe source documents and recordings from various media.
• Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls.

Skills

Knowledge of source language colloquial terms

Excellent verbal and written skills in target language

Strong computer skills in MS Office

Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
