Job summary

Mission Essential is seeking a Somali-speaking linguist to support Health and Human Services refugee programs. The role focuses on in-person interpretation at ORR sites and remote interpretation as needed, translating documents and facilitating culturally informed communication for UC/UAM/URM.

Applicants should have ILR 2+ in English and Somali and pass a Tier 2 background check. On-site work is primary, with potential travel as required to support ORR programs.

Qualifications

• ILR level 2+ in English and Somali
• Pass Tier 2 background check is required

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person interpretation at ORR programs and sites
• Provide remote interpretation via telephone or video
• Translate documents between English and Somali as requested
• Facilitate communication between UC/UAM/URM and staff in preferred language
• Help orient UC/UAM/URM to community resources
