Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide specialized cardiovascular imaging interpretation ofconventional radiography, chest CT, HRCT, CTA, lung cancerscreening, in addition to cardiac CTA and cardiovascular MR in an865-bed VCU Medical Center with a six-bay Level 1 Trauma Centersuite and referral center. Services are also provided by theSection for the Massey Cancer Center, Pauley Heart Center,Interstitial Lung Disease Institute, pre- and post-operative lungand heart transplantation care. This full-time cardiothoracicposition will train medical students, residents and fellows withinthe large, highly productive academic radiology department.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Teaching – Provide training to medical students,residents and fellows, who rotate through the Department ofRadiology.
  • Clinical – Provide high quality, sub-specialized imaginginterpretations for assigned modalities in support of the referringphysicians and patients of VCUHS. Work collaboratively with amultidisciplinary team of pulmonologists, cardiologists,cardiothoracic surgeons, and other healthcare providers to provideaccurate and timely diagnoses.
  • Scholarly Activities - Faculty are encouraged toparticipate in activities related to national societies andorganizations to maintain clinical excellence.
  • Service – Time and effort is expected to be devoted toacademic service-related activities. This shall include college,school, and departmental committee work, professional growth, andother such assignments.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABR certification or documentation of passing the CoreComponent of the ABR Board examination
  • Be fellowship trained in Cardiothoracic Radiology and have aninterest in teaching and research
  • Candidates must be eligible for a Virginia medical license;must be eligible for permanent employment in the USA
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
