Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a mid-career Solutions Specialist within the Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) group. You will start in the home office for 3–6 months, completing a Bechtel-ization plan and leading a short-term assignment under a Pillar Lead.

After mobilization to a project site, you will apply your technical depth in areas like Primavera planning, 4D simulation, data analytics, or systems integration, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver results.

Project Overview

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, electric vehicle, and datacenter markets. M&T strives to exceed our customer objectives through utilizing our agility, innovative technologies, and world class talent.

The Solutions Group is M&T’s talent engine. We recruit proven mid-career advisors and specialists with in-demand technical depth, integrate them into Bechtel in the home office, and mobilize them to the projects that need their capability. Job Summary

In this role, you will join the M&T Solutions Group as an experienced solutions Specialist and spend your first 3 to 6 months in the home office. During that period you will complete a structured 30/60/90-day Bechtel-ization plan and lead a short-term assignment under a Sponsor (Pillar Lead), applying your existing technical depth to live project and functional initiative work. This window exists to translate your expertise into the Bechtel execution model and to make your capability visible to the project and functional managers who will compete for you.

At the end of that 3-to-6-month window, you will mobilize to a project site. Project and functional managers request specialists out of the Solutions Group based on demonstrated capability, and when a receiving role is confirmed at the placement gate, you relocate and are placed into that project or functional-staff role.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership

Major Responsibilities

Office Integration Period (Months 0 to 3)

• Complete the 30/60/90-day Bechtel-ization plan: fully provisioned and productive on first tasks within 30 days; embedded in a pillar and delivering assignment work by 60 days; contributing independently and creating visible demand for placement by 90 days.
• Lead assigned scope on a short-term assignment under a Sponsor (Pillar Lead), meeting the three defined assignment conditions covering scope, duration, and performance.
• Bring existing advisory depth to bear on live project and functional initiative work from the outset.

Project Mobilization (Months 3 to 6 Onward)

• Prepare for and support the placement gate review with your Sponsor and the Receiving Manager.
• Mobilize to the assigned project site and take up a project or functional-staff role at the appropriate level of responsibility. Execute a clean knowledge handoff on transition out of the Solutions Group.

Technical Leadership

• Apply proven, in-demand technical depth in one or more Solutions Group areas: Primavera planning, Advanced Work Packaging, constructability, 4D simulation, data analytics, systems integration, artificial intelligence, or construction execution.
• Serve as a technical reference within your pillar, and review and improve Solutions Group methods, tools, and standard work. Interface with project, engineering, and functional leadership to resolve technical and constructability issues.
• Interpret design drawings, specifications, and project documentation appropriate to your discipline.

• Implementation of the project ES&H program and quality control program in every work location, office and field, consistent with Bechtel’s Zero Accidents philosophy.
• Work in accordance with Bechtel’s Vision, Values & Covenants and Business Ethics policies.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
• Master’s degree or MBA is preferred and may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Willingness and ability to relocate to a project site, domestic or international, at the conclusion of the Office integration period. This is a required condition of the position and will be confirmed at panel interview.
• Proven, in-demand technical depth in at least one Solutions Group capability area, demonstrated on large, complex industrial or mission-critical projects.
• Ability to deliver independently from early in the assignment with limited direction.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and lead through technical credibility rather than direct line control.
• Strong delivery orientation, with a record of completing defined scope to schedule and quality expectations.
• Adaptability. Able to enter a new team, scope, or toolset and become productive quickly.
• Excellent communication and problem solving ability across project, functional, and client stakeholders.
• Work includes field activities and the physical ability to conduct them, which require the following: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, and of Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures, is preferred.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
