Job summary

Converge Enterprise is seeking a Solutions & Innovations Consultant to influence automation strategies, design new applications, and transform client platforms from a remote US location.

You will apply Lean and Agile thinking to lead projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver scalable software solutions, including mainframe modernization and DevOps practices. You’ll mentor juniors, present proposals to executives, and ensure on-time delivery across diverse industries.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of customer-facing experience in software consulting.
• Strong knowledge of mainframe technologies (z/OS) and DevOps.
• Experience with COBOL/PL/I/Java on z/OS and related IBM stacks.

Position Title: Solutions & Innovations Consultant

Position Location: Remote within the United States

Job Summary:

As software consultants, our teams work on a wide variety of projects alongside and for our clients. You could influence the automation strategy of a retail giant, build a new application for a mortgage business or redesign and transform platforms for the latest cloud technology. You’ll use the latest Lean and Agile thinking, solve mission-critical problems and challenge yourself every day. You will plan an important role in leading these projects to success.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

• Experience, understanding and diagnose issues with the Compile, Asssembly and LinkEdit processes for z/OS.
• Experience developing mainframe applications using COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, Java and EZT for z/OS, with other programming languages as a plus.
• Experience with IBM CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, Liberty and z/OS Connect.
• Experience with z/OS source control platforms and processes, such as Panvalet, Endevor, SCLM, etc.
• IBM zEnterprise Hybrid Computing offerings, including zLinux, zCX, Db2 and IDAA.
• IBM Dependency Based Build and its components, including Groovy or YAML.
• Using the z/OS USS environment.
• Using an IDE for mainframe development (e.g. IBM IDz, BMC Compuware Topaz, VSCode).
• Git-based source control platforms.
• IBM UrbanCode Deploy.
• Ansible Automation Platform.
• Experience with other open-source tools would be a plus.
• DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies and best practices.
• IBM Certified Specialist – IBM zSeries Technical Version 1 and related industry certifications are preferred.

Education and Experience:

• BA or BS or equivalent required.
• IBM Certified Specialist – IBM zSeries Technical Version 1 as well as related industry certifications are preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in customer facing environments with good presentation skills.
• Must have current working knowledge of IBM zEnterprise Hybrid Computing offerings including but not limited to zLinux, zCX and IDAA as well as DB2 DBA support for s/w development.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Ability to travel
