Job summary

Occulytics Inc. is seeking a Solutions Engineer with a strong software engineering foundation and hands-on AI experience to build agentic systems and data platforms.

You will tackle technically complex challenges across client engagements and internal products, from building new agentic solutions to scalable platforms. This role emphasizes hands-on development, applying AI and data engineering to automate processes, unlock insights, and enable better decisions using client data.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building production-grade applications.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience building and integrating APIs, external services, and enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications using LLM APIs, RAG, agents, or related tech.
• Data engineering experience with pipelines, data modeling, and cloud data platforms preferred.
• Ability to translate business problems into practical technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The Role

We're hiring a Solutions Engineer with a strong software engineering foundation and hands-on AI experience to build agentic systems, AI-enabled tools, and the data platforms that support them. You'll take on technically complex challenges across client engagements and internal products, from building new agentic solutions to developing scalable platforms and reusable components.

This is a hands-on building role. Success in this role starts with strong software engineering fundamentals. AI and data engineering are the technologies you'll apply to solve problems. You'll build solutions that help organizations automate processes, unlock insights, and make better decisions using their own data.

What You'll Do

Software Engineering & Architecture

• Build and deploy production software that solves real business problems, from AI-enabled applications and agentic workflows to the data platforms that support them
• Partner with the MD of Data and AI to design and implement scalable technical solutions that can be reused across clients
• Build AI-enabled applications and end-to-end solutions that connect data sources, business logic, AI capabilities, and user experiences to automate processes and solve real business problems
• Integrate solutions with APIs, enterprise applications, and operational workflows
• Build production-grade applications and services, bringing data and AI capabilities into real-world workflows

AI Engineering & Evaluation

• Develop and improve LLM-powered applications using modern AI frameworks and APIs
• Design AI applications that connect models with enterprise data and business context through retrieval, tool use, and agentic workflows
• Implement evaluation approaches, logging, and monitoring to measure AI performance and improve system reliability
• Apply responsible AI practices including data access controls, PII minimization, and auditability

Data Engineering & Infrastructure

• Build and maintain reliable data pipelines and models that turn operational data into trusted, analytics-ready datasets
• Build the data foundations required for AI solutions, including retrieval pipelines, embeddings, and vector databases
• Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure production reliability

Build for Reuse

• Create reusable components, frameworks, and documentation that accelerate future client delivery
• Develop repeatable approaches for common data integration, AI, and automation challenges
• Contribute to evolving best practices around data engineering and AI delivery

Requirements

• 3 years of software engineering experience designing and building production-grade applications that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Experience building and integrating APIs, external services, and enterprise applications
• Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications using LLM APIs, RAG, agents, or related technologies
• Data engineering experience building pipelines, data modeling, and working with cloud data platforms is strongly preferred
• Ability to translate business problems into practical technical solutions
• Effective communication skills and comfort collaborating directly with clients and business stakeholders

Preferred

• Familiarity with leading LLM platforms and APIs, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar
• Experience with AI application frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar
• Understanding of vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-based AI systems
• Awareness of emerging agent patterns including MCP, tool use, and agent orchestration
• Experience working in consulting, startups, or other environments requiring ownership and adaptability
