Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to lead portfolio rationalization and architecture across multiple task orders for a National Intelligence program. You will drive cloud, AI integration, and DevSecOps practices while aligning with enterprise standards.

You will mentor engineers, manage stakeholder communications, and ensure secure, scalable solutions that support critical missions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
  • 5+ years as a solutions architect.
  • 3+ years leading multiple teams across task orders or similar leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines for complex applications.
  • Hands-on with CI/CD tools (Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
  • Experience with source control and branching strategies (Git, trunk-based, GitFlow).
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and services for VMs, containers, serverless.
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, EKS, GKE).
  • Serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions).
  • Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices including automated security testing and compliance integration.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or similar).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating AI-enabled development tools for automation and productivity.

  • Provide architectural leadership across multiple task orders and product lines.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to consolidate and modernization efforts across portfolios.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to improve performance, security, and mission outcomes.
  • Lead the Sponsor’s unified systems roadmap across product lines, systems, and services.
  • Ensure solutions comply with Sponsor standards while balancing innovation and cost.
  • Shape and execute the strategy for integrating AI-enabled tools into the development lifecycle.

What You’ll Achieve
  • Serve as the single, trusted focal point for application portfolio rationalization across the IDIQ, driving consistency and alignment among multiple projects and teams
  • Provide architectural leadership across multiple task orders and product lines, ensuring solutions are cohesive, scalable, and aligned with enterprise priorities
  • Proactively identify opportunities to consolidate and modernize applications, reduce technical duplication, and simplify the technical environment
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging and existing technologies that improve performance, security, user experience, and mission outcomes for the customer.
  • Guard against the adoption of competing or redundant technologies by driving alignment to an enterprise‑wide vision and standards
  • Lead and influence the implementation of the Sponsor’s unified systems roadmap across product lines, systems, and services at the IDIQ level
  • Ensure solutions consistently comply with Sponsor standards, architectures, and long‑term strategies, while balancing innovation with risk and cost
  • In addition, you will help shape and execute our strategy for integrating AI‑enabled tools and capabilities into the development lifecycle by identifying opportunities for automation, improving developer productivity, and advising on responsible, mission‑aligned AI adoption.
How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Experience analyzing and rationalizing IT portfolio‑based platform(s) (cloud applications, hardware, software) to support enhancements to current applications and systems; as well as streamlining and consolidating stacks
  • Experience and knowledge of various architecture patterns such as microservices
  • Experience with designing and implementing cloud‑based solutions
  • Experience architecting solutions for Salesforce and ServiceNow
  • Experience in developing/supporting complex technical solutions.
  • Experience and familiarity integrating with emerging technologies into an enterprise framework
  • Mentor and coach engineers on DevSecOps, agile delivery, and automation best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and practices in DevSecOps, CI/CD, cloud platforms, containers, and serverless, and recommend improvements.
  • Program Delivery Oversight
    • Monitor team roadmaps and delivery milestones
    • Identify blockers and risks impacting delivery
    • Conduct root cause analysis when teams miss objectives
    • Identify and implement process improvements
    • Translate technical issues into executive‑level communications
    • Participate in Monthly Program Management Reviews (PMRs) - delivery health and risk reporting
    • Technical Advisory
      • Serve as technical advisor to division leadership on strategic initiatives
      • Participate in executive meetings requiring deep technical expertise
      • Bridge communication between technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Required Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience working with ServiceNow and/or Salesforce and its core capabilities, including integrating workflows managing platform configuration, and leveraging their solutions to support enterprise development operational needs.
Desired Skills And Experience
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field.
  • Certifications such as:
    • AWS/Azure/GCP Architect or DevOps Engineer
    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar
    • DevOps or Agile certifications (e.g., SAFe RTE, SAFe DevOps, CSM, PSM)
    • Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CSSLP, CCSP)
  • Experience implementing policy‑as‑code and security‑as‑code (e.g., OPA, Sentinel, Conftest).
  • Experience using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

The likely salary range for this position is $195,240 - $264,148. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
