Our client is seeking a Senior Microsoft 365 Architect to design, implement, and support enterprise Microsoft 365, cloud, identity, endpoint, security, and infrastructure solutions within the engineering services space. This is a highly hands-on technical role for someone who can architect a solution and then personally drive its implementation through production and support handoff. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience designing and implementing Microsoft 365, infrastructure, endpoint, identity, or cloud solutions and is comfortable operating independently on a small IT team. This is not a basic M365 administration or service desk position. The focus is on owning complex technical initiatives and materially improving the environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement Microsoft 365 solutions across Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Defender, Purview, and related Azure services.
- Own technical projects end to end, including requirements gathering, architecture and design, implementation, testing, documentation, production deployment, support handoff, and ongoing support.
- Engineer identity, endpoint, security, and compliance solutions, including Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access, RBAC, device configuration, application deployment, patch management, and policy enforcement.
- Improve the Microsoft 365 and infrastructure environment by strengthening security, reliability, scalability, automation, operational efficiency, and supportability.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across users, devices, applications, cloud services, identity, and network-connected systems, performing root-cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Create clear technical documentation, including architecture documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge-base materials that enable effective support across the broader IT team.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft 365, infrastructure, endpoint, identity, or cloud-based solutions.
- Demonstrated experience personally designing and implementing complex technical solutions and owning projects from requirements gathering through design, implementation, documentation, handoff, and ongoing support.
- Deep hands-on Microsoft 365 expertise across Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Strong experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) and endpoint management, including Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access, RBAC, device configuration, patch management, application deployment, and policy enforcement, plus working knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, automation/scripting, technical documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Relevant Microsoft certifications are preferred but not required.
