Solution Sales Engineer, Cloud Storage – Boston
Our client is a fast-growing startup in the cloud storage space, seeking a Sales Engineer to support its pre-sales activities in the north-east of the United States. We are looking for a smart, highly technical team player with extensive sales experience who is enthusiastic about delivering storage solutions to leading Fortune 500 companies in North America. This is a home office-based role.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience as a Sales Engineer in storage and/or cloud industries
- Strong presentation and technical analysis skills
- Up to 50% travel with some overnight stays
- Storage experience – NAS, file-systems, object storage; Protocols: CIFS/SMB, NFS; background in deploying, securing, and managing file servers, backup, and archiving software
- Cloud or virtualization experience – 2+ years in VMware (Datacenter Virtualization Certification) or AWS/Azure Certified Solution Architect
- Networking / Firewall experience – Proven knowledge of TCP/IP stack and protocols: HTTP, TLS, DNS, LDAP, SAML v2
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as WireShark
- Operating systems – Windows Desktop and Server (Roles: ADDS & DNS) and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- Practical experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms
- Documentation skills for editing guides, sales presentations, network diagrams, configuration diagrams, and asset management
You will:
- Provide technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests
- Support the sales cycle with technical sales support, qualifying opportunities, solution design, sizing, RFI/RFP responses, etc.
- Establish and maintain rapport with customers and partners
- Use professional concepts to resolve complex issues creatively
- Deliver technical presentations explaining products and services
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements
- Conduct proof of concepts (POCs) with clear scope of work and success criteria
- Transfer knowledge through demos and hands-on training
- Collect and document product feedback and enhancement requests
- Submit orders in coordination with technical support
