Job description

Position : Solution Architect(Java, Multi-Technology Architecture, Cloud & Enterprise Integration)
Location : NY/NJ || Full Time || Hybrid
Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to design and guide the implementation of scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable enterprise applications across multiple technology stacks. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java-based application architecture, working knowledge of Python, and the ability to evaluate and integrate diverse technologies based on business and technical requirements.

The role requires end-to-end ownership of solution architecture, including application design, API and integration patterns, data architecture, cloud infrastructure, security, performance, and operational readiness. The architect will work closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, technical leads, and enterprise architects to translate business requirements into practical, cost-effective technical solutions.

This is a hands‑on architecture and technical leadership role requiring the ability to review code and designs, develop proof of concepts, establish engineering standards, and guide development teams through implementation.

Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Technical Design
  • Own end-to-end solution architecture for enterprise applications, modernization initiatives, and system integration projects.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into solution architecture, component designs, technology choices, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Design scalable, highly available, fault‑tolerant, and secure distributed systems.
  • Define application boundaries, service decomposition, design patterns, and architectural standards.
  • Evaluate build-versus-buy options and recommend appropriate technologies based on business value, cost, complexity, and maintainability.
  • Create architecture diagrams, solution design documents, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and technical specifications.
  • Provide strong architectural and technical leadership across Java-based enterprise applications.
  • Guide the design and development of applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and related enterprise technologies.
  • Understand object-oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns, concurrency, exception handling, and performance optimization.
  • Design microservices, modular applications, and distributed systems using appropriate architectural patterns.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, API development, data processing, or AI-enabled integrations.
  • Review code and technical designs to ensure consistency with architecture standards, security requirements, and engineering best practices.
API, Integration & Distributed Systems
  • Design RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous communication patterns.
  • Define API contracts, versioning, authentication, authorization, error handling, and backward compatibility.
  • Architect integrations with enterprise applications, third‑party platforms, databases, and external services.
  • Apply messaging and streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or cloud-native messaging services where appropriate.
  • Address distributed transaction management, idempotency, retries, circuit breakers, and eventual consistency.
  • Establish integration standards and reusable architectural components.
  • Design and guide deployment of applications on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other major cloud platforms.
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles using containers, Kubernetes, serverless computing, and managed services where appropriate.
  • Define infrastructure, networking, identity and access management, scalability, availability, and disaster recovery requirements.
  • Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated provisioning, and environment consistency using tools such as Terraform.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform engineering teams on CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and release automation.
  • Evaluate cloud cost optimization, performance, resilience, and operational support requirements.
  • Design application data models, persistence strategies, and data access patterns.
  • Evaluate relational and NoSQL databases based on functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, or Redis.
  • Address data consistency, transaction management, indexing, caching, data integrity, and performance.
  • Define integration and data exchange patterns across distributed applications.
Security, Quality & Operational Excellence
  • Incorporate security‑by‑design principles, including authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, and secure API design.
  • Ensure architecture aligns with enterprise security, compliance, privacy, and audit requirements.
  • Define non‑functional requirements covering availability, scalability, latency, throughput, and recoverability.
  • Establish observability standards using centralized logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting.
  • Guide performance testing, resilience testing, vulnerability remediation, and production readiness reviews.
  • Promote DevSecOps practices and secure software development lifecycle standards.
Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering leads, and enterprise architecture teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, technical assessments, and proof‑of‑concept initiatives.
  • Mentor developers and technical leads and support engineering teams during implementation.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and opportunities for simplification or modernization.
  • Communicate architectural decisions, trade‑offs, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure that the implemented solution remains aligned with the approved architecture and design principles.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, application architecture, solution design, or related roles, with substantial experience in architecture and technical leadership.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and enterprise application development.
  • Proven experience designing microservices, distributed applications, REST APIs, and integration architectures.
  • Working knowledge of Python and its use in automation, scripting, API integrations, or data processing.
  • Experience designing applications for AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, and managed databases, Azure, or another major cloud platform.
  • Exposure to AI/ML integration, LLM APIs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or agentic AI architectures.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, NoSQL databases, caching, and data modeling.
  • Experience with messaging systems, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous processing.
  • Knowledge of API gateways, service mesh, distributed tracing, and platform engineering.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong knowledge of application security, performance engineering, scalability, availability, and resiliency.
  • Experience producing architecture diagrams, technical design documents, and Architecture Decision Records.
  • Proven ability to guide engineering teams, conduct design and code reviews, and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
  • Familiarity with .NET, Node.js, React, or other technology stacks.
  • Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, or similar DevOps tooling.
  • Relevant cloud or solution architecture certifications.
  • Experience working in technology consulting, financial services, or large enterprise environments.
  • Strong architectural judgment and technology selection.
  • Ability to balance business requirements, engineering quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Practical, hands‑on approach to architecture and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work across multiple technology stacks without being restricted to a single framework.
  • Strong technical communication, design governance, and engineering mentorship.
Expected Outcomes
  • Delivery of secure, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready solution architectures.
  • Consistent application of reusable architecture patterns and engineering standards.
  • Reduced technical risk, integration complexity, and long‑term maintenance costs.
  • Improved collaboration between architecture, development, DevOps, and business teams.
  • Successful translation of business requirements into implementable technical solutions.

Technology priority: Java and Spring Boot are the primary technical requirements. Python is a secondary skill, with working knowledge sufficient to evaluate designs and guide implementation. The architect must be technology-agnostic at the solution level and capable of making sound architectural decisions across multiple stacks.
