Job summary

Actalent is seeking a SolidWorks 3D Mechanical Designer to create and modify 3D models and detailed drawings for parts, weldments, piping systems, and assemblies. The role emphasizes design for manufacturing (DFM) and GD&T, collaborating with design engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The position is fully onsite at a Huntsville, AL campus, with responsibilities ranging from ECN/ECR documentation to production-ready drawings using SolidWorks 2023 and related

Qualifications

• Expertise in 3D solid modeling and drafting with SolidWorks 2023.
• Ability to apply GD&T and tolerancing to complex assemblies.
• Experience with DFMA and manufacturing-ready designs.
• Strong collaboration with design engineers and shop floor teams.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD/NAS defense standards advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D models and drawings for parts and assemblies.
• Prepare shop drawings and production documents for fabrication.
• Perform tolerance analysis and ensure design intent.
• Support ECN/ECR processes and design reviews.
• Coordinate with manufacturing during fabrication to resolve issues.
