Job summary

Crane 1 Services is seeking a design engineer to develop precise turnkey material handling designs. You will work with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and field teams to deliver robust solutions using SolidWorks or other 3D modeling tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate across departments are essential.

The role emphasizes multi-view drawings, BOM management, and adherence to welding standards, with opportunities for technical leadership and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or drafting is preferred.
• 3 years of mechanical design, drafting, or related manufacturing experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling tools.
• Experience with BOMs and fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding standards preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and cross‑department collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop multi-view production and installation drawings using SolidWorks with minimal supervision.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards and customer specifications.
• Annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 and other symbols to communicate fabrication needs.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Review design accuracy before release to manufacturing and installation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior designers.
• Collaborate with engineering, electrical, structural, civil, and installation teams.
• Support fabrication and field teams with guidance and problem resolution.
• Assist with design reviews and propose improvements for manufacturability and install.
• Develop technical documentation, specifications, and procedures.
• Participate in troubleshooting design issues during fabrication or installation.
