GNB is seeking a self-starter with a strong bias for action who is exceptionally curious, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role supports high-visibility projects that directly impact GNB’s growing Mission Critical Manufacturing (MCM) business. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
The Designer will support the design of custom engineered structures from concept through manufacturing, primarily supporting MCM projects while also contributing across broader GNB initiatives as needed.
This role requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and deliver high-quality design output in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide design expertise and value engineering input.
Key Responsibilities
- Strong hands-on manufacturing experience in a steel fabrication / structural steel environment

- Lean manufacturing / SOP-driven environment experience is a plus
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent hands-on experience in the building/manufacturing industry
- Expert level knowledge of SolidWorks software
- Experience creating detailed fabrication drawings, including weld specifications
- Intermediate level software knowledge in Autodesk software (i.e.: Office, Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Experience supporting projects from concept through production
Knowledge of:

- Proficiency in SolidWorks with strong understanding

Technical Skills
- SolidWorks (Advanced / Expert)

- Experience with NetSuite or ERP systems
- Exposure to prototype testing and product validation
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles or SOP development
- Extensive experience in the design, detailing, manufacture, and value engineering of customized steel structures
- Extensive experience in the design and detailing of structural steel connection schemes
- Extensive experience in the creation of detailed fabrication drawings, which include the accurate specification of weld details
- Experience in the value engineering of varying types of steel structures
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AISC 360
- Proficiency in SolidWorks software with a strong understanding of parametric modeling, assembly modeling, and drawing creation
- Excellent knowledge of engineering principles, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot design issues and propose effective solutions
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of an organization, including executive and C‑Suite level
- Expert communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely
- Stay updated on the latest design software (i.e. Autodesk and SolidWorks) features, tools, and techniques to enhance design efficiency and productivity
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment with periodic travel in an industrial steel and fabric fabrication environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, precise measuring instruments, and other design and engineering related tools.
