Job summary

The Maury County Government is seeking a full-time Solid Waste worker to assist with the maintenance and operation of the county's transfer station and recycling facility in Columbia, TN.

The job requires physical strength, ability to operate trucks and equipment like bobcats and front-end loaders, and a valid Tennessee driver's license.

Daily duties include safety inspections, covering trailers, moving recyclables, minor maintenance, and coordination with the Solid Waste Director.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Experience in solid waste/recycling operations and operating trucks/equipment preferred.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and interact politely with the public.

Responsibilities

• Inspect trucks, machinery, and equipment for safety prior to operation.
• Ensure trailers are covered and secured before transport.
• Operate light equipment for processing recycling materials.
• Assist with loading and baling recyclables for transport.
• Perform minor preventive maintenance and report malfunctions.
• Mow and maintain solid waste property; clean equipment as needed.
