Job summary

City of Dickinson is seeking a Solid Waste Operator to operate and maintain heavy equipment and collection trucks, supporting waste and recycling operations for a cleaner, safer community.

You will assist in processing recyclables, monitor landfill activities, and perform preventive maintenance while collaborating with other departments and handling additional duties as needed. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a stable schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid ND Class B CDL is preferred but not required.
• Two years of related experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment, collection trucks, and tools used for waste collection, disposal, and recycling.
• Assist in processing and preparing solid waste and recyclables for transfer or disposal.
• Monitor material collection and disposal at the landfill and transfer facility.
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and facilities; assist with major repairs as needed.
• Support litter control, snow removal, and water management efforts at the landfill.
• Collaborate with other departments and perform other duties as assigned.
