Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in solid waste, recycling, environmental programs, inspections, or regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of waste diversion, recycling practices, refuse collection, and related regulations.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to educate residents and businesses and address questions or concerns.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail when conducting inspections, documenting findings, maintaining records, and tracking data.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments, residents, businesses, and community partners to promote compliance, recycling, and waste reduction programs.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections and monitors programs and services for regulatory compliance (waste and recycling collection and household hazardous waste).
• Handles customer concerns related to solid waste collection, disposal, and other services.
• Performs technical and field inspection work to monitor compliance with trash collection and recycling rules and regulations; conducts public contact work; investigates and resolves citizen complaints; provides information and answers questions; prepares and conducts presentations.
• May require evening and weekend work.
