The City of Surprise invites applications for a Solid Waste Equipment Operator who will operate a range of equipment, from light collection gear to loaders and forklifts. The role focuses on delivering reliable residential and commercial collection services and sharing educational information with the community.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, plus a valid Arizona CDL Class B or higher.
Incumbents perform semi-skilled activities in the Solid Waste Division. Incumbents operate light to heavy equipment such as solid waste collection equipment, loaders, and forklifts. Incumbents are responsible for providing solid waste collection services and educational information, and ensuring regulatory compliance for residential and commercial collection routes.
High school diploma or GED, and one year of full-time sanitation, heavy truck, and/or construction equipment operations experience, or closely related work. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or higher.
