Responsibilities

• Inspect solid waste facilities and sites for compliance with rules and permit conditions.
• Provide technical assistance to local governments, facilities, industry, and the public on solid waste management and reuse.
• Inspect recycling and resource recovery facilities for the Tax Certification Program.
• Investigate unpermitted illegal disposal sites.
• Initiate enforcement actions for noncompliance.
• Support statewide disaster preparedness and recovery efforts related to solid waste.
