Job summary

QuantumScape in the United States seeks a Manufacturing Quality engineer to improve the reliability of solid-state Li metal batteries. You will apply data‑driven methods to detect defect modes on cells and translate findings into robust specifications for the manufacturing line.

You’ll develop computer vision detection algorithms and ML models, build labeling rulebooks, and collaborate with R&D and operations to tighten metrology, imaging, and process CTQs, enabling scalable, data‑driven quality

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, or equivalent.
• 5+ years solving complex problems in materials science, physics, chemistry, or engineering, battery/semiconductor preferred.
• Strong Python skills with data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with computer vision and image processing (OpenCV) for 2D/3D data.
• Experience with statistics in manufacturing (regression, t-tests, survival analysis).

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise on battery components and cross-functional metrology systems.
• Develop computer vision and ML models, including labeling rulebooks and model maintenance.
• Collaborate with R&D to generate metrics and deep learning models for imaging data.
• Use statistics to uncover patterns in large battery test datasets.
• Build models to predict electrical performance from images and tighten specifications.
• Work with cross-functional engineers to define repeatable measurement processes.
• Leverage AI to query, clean, and process data and select methods.
