Job summary

ISCAR METALS, INC in Arlington, TX seeks a Solid Round Cutting Tool Designer to design special solid round tooling (end mills, drills) per customer requirements. You will create tool models, production drawings, and use ISCAR’s internal PDM system, serving as a department specialist for solid round tool design.

The ideal candidate has hands-on cutting tool design experience, CAD/CAM proficiency (CATIA v5 or 3DX), and strong collaboration skills to work with multiple sites and vendors.

Qualifications

• Requires postsecondary technical training or engineering degree.
• Ability to read engineering detail drawings or part prints.
• Experience in cutting tool design, especially solid carbide end mills and drills.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools (CATIA v5 or 3DX).
• Knowledge of metalworking processes and tooling methods.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

ISCAR METALS, INC, a dynamic and innovative cutting tool company, has an immediate opening for a Solid Round Cutting Tool Designer to join our team at our corporate office in Arlington, TX. Responsible for designing special solid round tooling (end mills, drills) per customer requirements, creating detailed production drawings and utilizing ISCAR’s internal software system (PDM) used for managing special tooling services. Serve as department specialist for solid round tool design.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Design special solid round tooling for specific applications or part features
• Create tool models, production drawings, and concept drawings
• Coordinate workflow throughout Special Tooling Services (as related to solid round tooling)
• Collaborate with solid round tool vendors (production sites)
• Train Special Tooling Service team members
• Oversee/Check drawings from other Tool Designers
• Perform other duties as assigned (creation of BOM, DXF files, customer site visits when needed)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES.

• Knowledge of Engineering practices
• Ability to read engineering detail drawings or part prints
• Understands metalworking - Ability to devise tooling/methods resulting in process improvement
• Cutting tool design experience, preferably involving solid carbide end mills and drills
• Familiarity with grinding machine software (preferred) (example: Anca ToolRoom / iGrind)
• Familiarity with CAD; CATIA v5 or most recent 3DX version (a plus)
• Communicate effectively, both written and verbally
• Coordinate with sales staff and engineering personnel in a multi-site environment
• Work independently or as part of a team
• Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Education – postsecondary technical training or engineering degree (a plus)
