Summary:
Serves as Scheduling Coordinator in various departments within the organization. Consistently demonstrates the core values of Children's Health System. Contributes to overall patient satisfaction by consistently delivering outstanding customer service to patients, providers, and payers throughout the healthcare experience. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities, including: working the front desk in their assigned department; determining appropriate studies to schedule; ordering various possible exams which are performed among different areas with differing time schedules and requirements; the prompt and accurate handling of scheduling, registration and financial processes; addressing patient concerns; and communicating using AIDET throughout the delivery of care. May collaborate with physician offices and clinical departments to coordinate services, prepare patients for their visit, and maintain all of its support processes. Manages insurance authorization and referral process and responsible for collection of funds. Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills including good voice quality, good diction and articulation.

Responsibilities:
* Coordinate department schedule between patient, staff, and physician; provide professional customer relations via telephone and in person to solve problems and assist patients; and schedule appointments, order supplies, check patients in/out, and charge patients via computer.
* Ensure clinical information coincides with orders and scheduled appointments; and ensure that procedural flow is accurately determined, i.e., rooms, technical staff, times, and physicians
* Collaborates to deliver a seamless, exceptional customer experience across a broad range of customer touch points, channels, processes, and applications. Works across multiple functions and with all levels of the organization.
* Responds to inbound interactions utilizing EMR to schedule surgeries and procedures, confirm patient appointments, registrations, and inquiries following established protocols to ensure patient safety and data integrity.
* Utilizes EMR to proactively contact patients, caregivers, physicians and the community to schedule patient appointments, complete registrations and respond to inquiries following established protocols to ensure patient safety and optimize the revenue cycle.
* Facilitates surgery appointments across multiple facilities; organizes appropriate staff; ensures patient understanding prior to surgery or procedure; coordinates smooth patient flow in accordance with all processes, procedures, and guidelines.
* Coordinates physician to physician communication to ensure appropriate referrals, pre-authorization, and clinical necessity are obtained prior to procedure to ensure patient safety and optimize the revenue cycle.
* Manages and coordinates obtaining consents, authorizations, pre-certification of professional services to secure coverage and payment, and medical information as it is received, to have efficiently available to the physician and staff.
* Ensures own compliance with all Children’s Health and department policies and procedures. Is open to constructive feedback and willing to work on areas identified as needing improvement.
* Complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) at all times to safeguard protected health information.
* Performs other duties as assigned/required.

How You’ll Be Successful:

WORK EXPERIENCE

* At least 1 year job related experience, preferably in healthcare setting Required
* Knowledge of terminology used by insurance/ managed care health plans Preferred
* Knowledge of medical terminology Preferred

EDUCATION
* High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school Required
* Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Preferred
