Job summary

SMTC Corporation is hiring for a Solder. The role requires performing hand soldering on PC boards using a microscope, rework and repair with IPC 610 Class 3 standards, and certification such as IPC-7711/7721.

The position is based in Fremont, CA with a first shift from 7am to 3:30pm. Minimum 4 years in electronics repair/rework, ability to read schematics, and multitask with attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in electronics industries involving repair and rework on PC boards.
• Solder to IPC 610, Class 3 required.
• SMTC soldering class, J-STD-001, or pre-employment soldering test.
• IPC-7711/7721 certification required.
• Able to read schematics and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand soldering by using a microscope to remove, install, align and straighten parts.
• Apply epoxy to PC boards where applicable.
• Remove solder from gold-plated areas and prepare for rework.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Follow procedures based on schematics.

Pay rate: $21 - $23/hr

Overall Responsibilities

Responsible for performing all tasks necessary to rework and repair PC Boards
Complex rework such as removing and replacing IC’s, wire add, piggy back resistors, etc. Have the knowledge to access company procedures and navigate shop floor controls. Ability to solder to IPC 610, Class 3.

Duties

• Perform hand soldering by utilizing a microscope to remove, install, align and straighten parts.
• Have the ability to apply epoxy to PC Boards when applicable.
• Have the ability to remove solder from gold plate, prepare for relating and replace.
• Perform such other duties as assigned.
• Understand schematic drawings and be able to follow procedures.
• Should have either the SMTC soldering class, J-STD-001, or pre-employment soldering test.
• Requires IPC-7711/7721 certification.

Education

• High School diploma preferred
• Associate’s preferred in a technical field

Experience

• Minimum 4 years in electronics industries involving repair and rework on printed circuit boards
• Experience in multitasking, attention to detail is a must
